Hongkong air cargo terminal refreshes three cargo records

The Hongkong air cargo terminal (Hactl) broke through three new records in the first week of November.
Cargo station exports volume exceeded 31280 metric tons a week, breaking the record of 30593 tonnes in November last year. In the same week, its total volume of goods exceeded 42,471 tonnes a week, surpassing the 41,926 tonnes record set in November last year.
Meanwhile, the terminal handled 102 cargo planes on November 5, slightly higher than the record of 101 cargo planes per day handled on November 23 last year.
Hong Kong Airport Chief Executive Officer Wilhelm Hood said: "Freight stations set new records in 2016, mainly due to the impact of the Korean shipping bankruptcy accident, resulting in a substantial increase in the fourth quarter volume. There were no similar incidents in 2017, but the cargo terminal customers of more than 100 airlines were strong business performance, the achievement of cargo terminal volume has reached new highs.
"In addition, the terminal's efforts to expand the export of electronic commerce goods through Hong Kong have undoubtedly played an important role in the overall performance, and we are pleased to be able to assist the airline customer business to continue to flourish."
